earl had to die.
happy mayday, all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i studied for a very long time today--over 4 straight hours of sitting on my lovely striped couch rereading british lit. hooray for britain!
i can't find my lei from friday night. sadness.
i'm going to cedar point in 10 days! now, i only have to manage to get 5 a's on my 5 finals before that....blah. spanish linguistics = hard final!
someone remind me to go to the bank tomorrow. gracias.
last night i made some no-bake cookies. they were gooey...really gooey (um, eric ate one with a spoon!lol). anyway, they sat out all night, and now they're really good! i'm eating one. too bad eric isn't here anymore to have one.
there is no correlation between objective reality and the language we use to describe it. there is always a certain arbitrariness in life.
random fact: people who contracted syphilis in the 18th century drank lead to cure themselves--and, it worked (for the syphilis...)! it slowly killed them of lead poisoning, but, you'll have that.
alltel sent me a text message to enter to win a free house. yay!
eric, the cool points are out the window, and you've got me all twisted up in the game!;-)
professor nelson quote from the middle of his brit lit lecture on friday: "tiffany, what happened to the guy we used to see down by the mon river? and, tiffany says, 'oh, he's dead; let's go to his funeral!' and, we go--'oh, look, he's being carried in now!'"
another: "when you get to be my age, you'll read the obituaries every day to see if any of your friends are dead. and, they're all the same--'byron left behind a loving wife, 4 children, 7 grandchildren...' and, then they get even more sappy--'he entered heaven to be with jesus...' now, i'd like to see something different for a change! maybe, 'because of his faults, byron didn't go home to see jesus; he is now roasting in the flames' i'd love it--maybe i should start writing my own obituary!"
one more: "and, when i'm on my death bed, you are all invited come on over and take your favourite book from my collection!"
now, can't you see why i love this man?! he's funny...and british! (what more could i want in an english teacher?!) yea, straight a's, but i've got that with him! he also wrote me a lovely recommendation for bethany. i'll miss him. *sigh* all of the recent quotes were about death b/c that's we're studying--he's not an especially morbid fellow. well, maybe in a funny way, but, aren't we all?=)
this is a very long blog...especially compared to yesterday's!
"ya, papa!" *chuckles*
